Her work, which combines rigorous research with artistic vision, seeks to renew and sustain the practice of pilgrimage in the modern world, documenting sacred roots, shrines, and traditions in ways that safeguard memory and highlight the enduring vitality of Christian heritage.

We know Ms. Makdessi personally and can attest to her seriousness, dedication, and integrity. The project she is undertaking is not only of cultural value but also of pastoral importance: it will make better known the richness of our traditions, encourage renewed awareness of Christian roots, and contribute to dialogue with wider society through the lens of history, heritage, and faith.
